NEVER on a Saturday! As The Martyrs sneaked a win after defences were dominant, they  paraded three players making their home debuts,  with one of them having an unusual day. Jamie Veale was playing his first match on a Saturday.
Aged 22, he was with Cardiff City since he was nine, but the games he played there were on a Monday or a Friday, his grandfather John told me afterwards.

Merthyr Town 1 Salisbury 2

Merthyr deserved a point  against a well-organised Salisbury outfit but it wasn't to be as the Wiltshire men completed the double.
Two second-half goals after an evenly contested first period did the damage with The Martyrs snatching a consolation score at the death.
"I thought things couldn't get any worse with our injuries," noted manager Gavin Williams aferwards, " but then  we lost Ryan Prosser in the first 20 minutes."
