Club stalwart Les Barlow is standing down from first team duties at Merthyr Town.

Les has been involved with the club for over 30 years in a number of different capacities.  Les has been involved with the clubs Welsh League Reserve team, youth teams and the first team.  Prior to his involvement with Merthyr Les was involved with Georgetown Boys club, where a number of Merthyr born Welsh internationals played during his time.  Les will remain involved with the club’s academy.

Manager Gavin Williams said “Les has been a fantastic servant to the club for a very long time.  I’ve known him for a number of years and I would like to thank him for his commitment. Les would like to spend a bit more time with family and on the golf course and I understand his reasons.  He has been a vital part of my backroom staff over the last 2 seasons and he will be sorely missed.”

“It is great that he will remain involved with the club’s academy, who will continue to benefit from his experience.”
