Ashley Evans returns to Merthyr Town having previously played for Merthyr Tydfil in the Southern League. Ashley is a vastly experienced midfield player having played over 200 games in the Welsh Premier League for Llanelli, Neath and Port Talbot. Ashley is well known to Merthyr fans following his previous spell at the club, and was captain of Port Talbot last season when they reached European play-offs.
The second signing is Chris Hugh. Chris is a left back and previously played for Taffs Well and was their captain.
Manager Jenkins said "I am delighted with these two new additions. I have known Ash for a number of years and was looking to strengthen the midfield area for the coming season, even more so following Gavin's injury. He has played in the Southern Prem before and his experience and know-how will be very important. I know he had other offers, but the fact that he has chosen to join us shows how players see the ambition of our football club."
"I have watched Chris many times, and he was for me the best left back in the Welsh League. He is quick and very comfortable in possession and has the ability to get forward. He will bring balance to the squad in being a naturally left sider."
"Pre-season training is due to begin in a couple of weeks, and everyone is buzzing about getting back and getting ready for the pre-season friendlies which begin on 7 July against Penydarren, followed by a game against Swansea City on 11 July."
