Martyrs face 2nd placed Kettering
19 Jan 2018, Friday

Merthyr Town faced second placed Kettering tomorrow in their first home game since Boxing Day following the postponed match against Dunstable Town.

Merthyr go into the game having drawn 4 and winning 1 of their last 6 games against the visitors who have won 3 and drawn 1 of their last 6 games.  Kettering won the reverse fixture 5-0 back in October and Merthyr will be hoping this game will be much closer.

Jarrad Wright starts the first match of his four match suspension, while Craig Reddy misses the second of his four game ban. Kyle Patten has returned to training but will not be risked after his ankle injury. Lee Price is in the squad having joined the club from Cambrian & Clydach. Lee trained with the club in pre-season and has been registered in time for the game.

The visitors are 1 point behind leaders Kings Lynn Town and will be hoping to win to keep their title hopes alive. Aaron O’Connor is the leading scorer with 20 goals in his 31 games. He will be supported by ex-Newport County striker Renee Howe who has scored 11 in his 35 games.

Merthyr Town squad:

Oliver Davies, Cameron Clarke, Adam Davies, Miles John, Liam martin, Connor Hanford, Matthew Harris, Scott Tancock, Ashley Evans, Harry Franklin, Adam Mahagan, Jaye Bowen, Lee Price Corey Jenkins, Ian Traylor, Kerry Morgan & Ryan Prosser.

The match kicks off at 3pm, admission price £10 adults, £8 seniors, and £1 U16s.

The weather forecast has improved for tomorrow compared to earlier this week. The pitch will be checked early in the morning and if an inspection is needed will be held around 08.30. We are not anticipating any issues though based on the current forecast.

From 6pm we will celebrate Burns Night. There will be poems, haggis and more in the Red Flag Bar.
