Merthyr Town face Dunstable Town on Saturday, the first game of a busy weekend at the ground where 3 of the clubs teams will be in action.
New Years day’s win at Frome was Merthyr’s first since they beat Stratford Town on 24 October.
Second half goals by skipper Ashley Evans and Ian Traylor saw the Martyrs come from behind to gain an important victory after a number of draws and narrow defeats since the infamous match at Chesham in November.
The Martyrs will be boosted by the return of Jarrad Wright, Jaye Bowen and Corey Jenkins to the squad but Ryan Prosser is set to miss out after sustaining an injury st Frome.
Manager Gavin Williams said “It was important to get that first win on Monday since the events at the club. We have had a few draws and some narrow defeats and I believe winning is a habit; so it was important to get that one on the board before Saturday’s game.”
The visitors currently lie in 23rd place having gained 9 points from their 27 games so far. Dunstable have improved since the 6-0 defeat in the corresponding fixture back in August and Merthyr can expect a tougher game against a side battling to avoid relegation. They have won 1 of their 14 matches on the road, which was at Banbury United on Boxing Day.
Dunstable have had football George Best and Kerry Dixon at the club in the past. They have ex-QPR striker Kevin Gallen on their coaching staff who will bring his experience to the set-up.
