Dominic Mahoney joins the Martyrs Community Trust as our new Community development officer. Dominic joins us all the way from Malta where he has been working with Maltese 1st division club Melita F.C. Dom currently holds an UEFA C Licence and will be aiming to progress onto his B Licence over the coming months. He has worked within the club’s academy in the past but his main role at the Community Trust will be to manage and over see our community based sessions and initiatives while seeking new ways to engage with the local community.
Another addition to the team is Rhys Llewellyn. Rhys has been working for the community trust as a coach for just over a year and has also been working within our academy. Rhys is Merthyr born and is currently in the process of finishing off a degree based at the University of South Wales while also holding an UEFA C Licence. Rhys’ new role will see him head up the Community Trust’s schools sport program as our Schools Development Officer. He will be responsible for leading on the FAW Trust’s LIDL Play Football initiative while developing strong relations with all the primary and secondary schools within the borough.
Community Trust Manager, Elliott Evans says that the growth in workforce reflects overall growth in provision being delivered by the Martyrs Community Trust. “In the past 12 months, the Martyrs Community Trust has grown significantly. We are now delivering almost double the number of programs and initiatives that we were 12 months ago. But for us to continue engaging with our local schools and community on such a large scale, we must invest in developing our workforce. Rhys and Dom are two great additions to the Community Trust team and I have no doubt they will both play key roles in expanding Merthyr Town’s engagement within our local community”
Merthyr Town FC and the Martyrs Community Trust would like to thank the FAW Trust for its continued support.
