Mansel Williams
8 June 2024
The Club wish to send our sincere condolences to all of the family members of former Club Chairman, Mansel Williams, who passed away on Friday 7th June 2024, at the age of 86.
Mansel was born on 9th August 1937 and will be sorely missed by his wife Iris, his daughter Joy, son-in-law Mickey, granddaughter Aimie and great grandson Albie.
He succeed Cyril Stuckey as Chairman of the Club in the early eighties and remained in post until John Reddy joined the Board. Also on the Board at the time when Mansel was chairman were Terry Collins, Don Davies and David Miles.
One of the proudest moments of Mansel’s life would have been when he gave away his daughter Joy on the day of her marriage to one of our former players, full back Mickey Carter.
Up until 2022/23 season Mansel continued to attend all of the Martyrs home games and travelled to the majority of the away venues, until his health started to deteriorate in the last twelve months.
As a volunteer Mansel helped to run Soccalot collecting tickets and assisting with the draw at Cefn Club on a Monday evening.
Details of Mansel’s funeral will be announced as soon as they are known.
