We welcome Basingstoke Town to Penydarren Park on Saturday afternoon for our Pitching IN Southern League Premier fixture (3pm Kick Off).

The Martyrs will be looking to extend their lead at the top of the Southern League table but will have to overcome a strong Basingstoke Town side, who despite being on a difficult run of form, started the season very well, and find themselves just 4 points of the play-off spots.

Form Guide (League Only)

Merthyr Town –  W D W W W

Basingstoke Town – L L L L D

One To Watch

Basingstoke Town’s forward, Liam Ferdinand, currently sits on 8 league goals so far this season, and has proved himself as an established non-League striker after spells with Met Police, Chesham United and Farnborough in the Southern League.

Minutes Applause – Stephen Morris

Ahead of kick off, there will be a minute’s applause held as we remember Martyrs fan, Stephen Morris, who sadly passed away since our last home fixture. Stephen was a Martyrs fan that followed them home and away, as well as a big community figure who raised thousands of pounds for local charities. Our thoughts are with Stephens family and friends at this very difficult time.

Mascots & Flag Bearers

We welcome the children from Treharris Athletic Western U11s who are our match-day mascots for Saturday’s game and will be leading the Martyrs out at Penydarren Park ahead of the game.
