NEWS Merthyr Town FC < Back News (News-Title) LED Floodlights 5 March 2024 Another objective in the Board’s 5-year Strategic Development Plan will be achieved in the close season when the existing halogen floodlights will be replaced with a retrofit LED system. This has only been possible with thanks to a successful application approved by the Premier League Stadium Improvement fund, with matched funding from the National Lottery via Egin. Replacing the existing floodlights was the main recommendation of an Energy Survey carried out by Severn Wye Energy Agency, that will help to reduce our CO2 emissions by 7.3 tonnes per year and make savings in our annual energy consumption costs. Advantages of LED System Some LED systems will consume 50% less energy than a halogen system – that will help to reduce our monthly electricity bills at a time when we will be seeking to replace our existing energy supplier. Less maintenance is required with LED systems. We will be able to control the LUX value and turn off 50% of the floodlights for all half pitch use, resulting in reduced consumption and CO2 emissions, plus protecting the environment. It provides us with the ability to immediately switch lights on and off, without a warm-up or cool-down period. Installing the LED lights will help to lower both our maintenance & running costs, while minimising the impact they have on the environment as another part of our Green Energy Strategy. Previous Next

- William Fuller
William William Fuller Goalkeeper 13 < Back Sponsored By: George & Oliver Gulliford HOME Martyn Maiden AWAY Signed from: X Profile: News: Merthyr Town Football Club are excited to have completed the signing of goalkeeper Will Fuller from Bath City. The shot-stopper joined the Romans in July 2021 after impressing during his trial period and featured in the National League South for the club last season. He began his career at Ipswich Town Academy before being released at the age of 16 and moving to Salisbury City for two years. The 29-year old joined Cardiff Met Uni, then playing in the fourth tier of Welsh football, in the summer of 2011. He went on to spend ten seasons with the club, making over 250 appearances and helping them to three promotions in four years to reach the Welsh Premier League. He was also the penalty shoot-out hero in 2019, saving three spot-kicks in the win over Bala Town to see the club qualify for the Europa League preliminary round. He featured for Archers in their European campaign the following summer, proving to be a vital player in Met’s Europa League campaign. Now, the Englishman joins the goalkeeping ranks at the club with competition from Jaimie Cogman for the No.1 shirt next season. Will is an experienced keeper with a little bit of a point to prove after a season of limited opportunities at Bath City,” said new manager Paul Michael. “Having said that he’s been at a very good level behind a top keeper who was also club captain and Will did very well when opportunities presented themselves. Will is a good leader who will command his area, and give excellent info to teammates and his distribution is outstanding. He’s another one who will contribute to a culture of high standards on and off the pitch and I’m delighted to be able to welcome him to Merthyr Town. “We need competition in all areas of the pitch and goalkeeper is no different. In Jamie & Will, we have two of the best available with contrasts between them and any team who wants to be successful needs this solid base from which to build.” Gallery: Previous Next

NEWS Merthyr Town FC < Back News (News-Title) Cymru International - Lifetime Membership 13 June 2023 When Wales play against Armenia in their Euro24 qualifier at the Cardiff City Stadium on Friday evening, its highly likely that one of the players involved in the game will be a Lifetime member of Merthyr Town FC. If Robert Page selects Joe Morrell to make his 35th appearance for his Country, Joe will be the very first Lifetime member of the Martyrs to play for Wales. Joe’s links with the Club were further strengthened when he used the facilities at Penydarren Park recently to conduct a coaching session with a local grassroots club, as part of his practical assessment for his coaching qualifications with the FAW. Everyone was also really proud when Joe paid a visit to the ground earlier this year before leaving for the World Cup and our supporters will be even prouder if he is selected on Friday.
